Still Life (work in constant expansion)

« Still Life, » an immersive, narrative, and contemplative virtual reality experience, produced by H-Life // Intage Production, 2020 – 2023

"The virtual reality experience titled "Still Life" immerses participants in a journey into the depths of an envisioned "living nature" created by the artist Hela Lamine, exploring transformation and adaptation as essential means of survival. Drawn line by line within the virtual reality headset, this environment comes to life in a studio-orchard in Mornag, Tunisia, where each element is connected by an invisible line symbolizing a kind of life force capable of interconnecting all living beings.

The viewer is invited to traverse a sequence of layered ecosystems, populated with a profusion of characters, figures, animals, and hybrid beings of various sizes. Each interconnected being in this virtual universe weaves a complex network of dependencies; some intertwine like host-parasite relationships in biology, sharing a necessary symbiosis for their life cycles.

The work aims to rediscover lost harmony, reestablishing essential balance. Through contemplation and meditative exploration, viewers are guided through various ecosystems, ranging in scale from ants to cosmic spirit. The artist aspires to unveil the profound transformation she has envisioned, rethinking her place within this ecosystem and seeking a natural harmony with the whole.

Wandering through multiple stages ultimately leads to a zaouia, a space imbued with spirituality, where the transformation ceremony takes place, symbolizing constant evolution and metamorphosis.

"Still Life" is a work in perpetual expansion."
