« The drawing experience becomes a reflection on the body in space. »
Media : Video & VR , Drawing , Field Investigation
Themes : Transmission & Heritage, Image & Manipulation
The workshop was aimed at participants aged 18 to 30, passionate about drawing or looking to deepen their practice and explore new ways of creating. It was inspired by the project Still Life.
The workshop offered an introduction to virtual reality as a tool for drawing and artistic experimentation. We began with an overview of virtual reality and the possibilities it offers artists working with drawing: discovering applications, exploring examples of immersive experiences, experimenting with 3D modelling tools, and being introduced to Open Brush as a starting point for developing other formats and creative practices.
The workshop focused on drawing directly within the virtual reality environment using Open Brush. Participants explored the different stages involved in creating a 3D drawing: understanding virtual space, drawing within volume, and working with scale, movement, and composition in an immersive environment.
The workshop also addressed different ways of documenting and presenting these creations, including the production of images, videos, and 360° views, allowing participants to reuse and adapt their projects in other artistic or digital contexts.
This workshop draws directly from my project Still Life, a work created through virtual reality drawing that marked my transition from drawing on paper to drawing in space. The experience of drawing thus becomes a reflection on space, the staging of volume, and experimentation between image, sculpture, and immersive environment.
