Quand les arbres murmurent
After creating Still Life in 2020, something had changed in the way I saw the world. I could no longer draw in two dimensions — I began to see everything in my mind as three-dimensional, as if I were still inside the VR headset. Yet I still needed to return to paper, pencil, and Indian ink.
Quand les arbres murmurent (When Trees Whisper) emerged from that need.
A series of plexiglass boxes, conceived as miniature stage sets, reconstruct in layered paper what had previously been drawn line by line in virtual space. Figures, hybrid beings, and trees all return to the physical world, unfolding through depth and superimposed layers, in black and white with subtle touches of colour.
Rather than documenting Still Life, these works offer a material response to it. Several images created for this series later became part of the second version of Still Life, creating a continuous dialogue between the virtual and the physical.
