« A deformation of the retina that makes invisible layers visible »

Media : Photography , Drawing
Themes : Memory & Disappearance

At first, Rétinade was a series of digital photographs that I played with by drawing directly onto them on a tablet.
In 2013, while walking and travelling, I began photographing places. Onto these images, I added a layer of imagination — what I imagined might inhabit these places, or what might have inhabited them in the past. A fiction superimposed onto reality, suspended in an undefined time.

What began as a simple exercise — training myself to see beyond what is there — gradually became a way of approaching reality, trying to flatten out the different dimensions layered within it. Like in quantum physics: parallel realities coexisting alongside one another.
I began trying to create a dialogue between different temporalities.

This exercise profoundly influenced the way I approach drawing: through strata, layers, and superimposition.
